Description

A beloved dish that combines comfort and tradition with a flaky pastry and savory filling, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef gravy
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until onion is translucent (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in mixed vegetables, beef gravy, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; cook until heated through.
  5. Roll out puff pastry sheets and line a pie dish with one layer.
  6. Fill the pastry-lined dish with meat mixture.
  7. Cover with another layer of puff pastry, sealing edges tightly.
  8. Cut slits in top pastry for steam to escape.
  9. Brush the top with beaten egg for shine.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Let the filling cool slightly before filling the pastry to avoid a soggy base. Consider using a mix of beef and pork for complex flavors, and add herbs for aromatics.
