Description

A delightful Asian-inspired dish featuring savory soy sauce and sweet brown sugar in a sticky glaze over tender chicken.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Stir-fried vegetables, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Place the chicken in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through, or bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and water, then add the leftover marinade (if any) to thicken the sauce.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, serve it over rice and with stir-fried vegetables. Drizzle the thickened sauce on top. Enjoy!

Notes

Marinate the chicken for longer when possible; overnight is best for maximum flavor. Always check doneness with a meat thermometer.
