Delightful and savory Spinach and Ricotta Balls, perfect for any occasion with a crispy exterior and tender filling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Drizzle olive oil into a large skillet and heat over medium. Add chopped spinach and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it wilts. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, blend ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until smooth and cohesive.
- Gently fold the sautéed spinach into the cheese mixture until evenly combined.
- Shape the mixture into small, 1-inch balls using your hands.
- Pour olive oil into a skillet and heat over medium. Add the spinach and ricotta balls in batches, frying each ball for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
- Place the cooked balls on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Notes
Use well-drained ricotta to avoid a soggy mixture. Consider adding sun-dried tomatoes or herbs for extra flavor.
