Description

Delightful and savory Spinach and Ricotta Balls, perfect for any occasion with a crispy exterior and tender filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drizzle olive oil into a large skillet and heat over medium. Add chopped spinach and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it wilts. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, blend ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until smooth and cohesive.
  3. Gently fold the sautéed spinach into the cheese mixture until evenly combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into small, 1-inch balls using your hands.
  5. Pour olive oil into a skillet and heat over medium. Add the spinach and ricotta balls in batches, frying each ball for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Place the cooked balls on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Notes

Use well-drained ricotta to avoid a soggy mixture. Consider adding sun-dried tomatoes or herbs for extra flavor.
