Description

A comforting dish of creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes layered with garlic and spices, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  4. Combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Gruyère cheese over the cream.
  6. Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use a mandoline for perfectly even potato slices. Experiment with different cheeses or add herbs for a twist.
