- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
- Combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Gruyère cheese over the cream.
- Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use a mandoline for perfectly even potato slices. Experiment with different cheeses or add herbs for a twist.
