Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into rectangles.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto each pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges.
  5. Layer the sliced strawberries atop the cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle sugar on top if desired.
  6. Fold the edges of the pastry over slightly to form a border.
  7. Brush the folded edges with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, pre-bake the puff pastry a few minutes before adding filling. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through for even browning.
