- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into rectangles.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture onto each pastry rectangle, leaving a border around the edges.
- Layer the sliced strawberries atop the cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle sugar on top if desired.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over slightly to form a border.
- Brush the folded edges with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, pre-bake the puff pastry a few minutes before adding filling. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through for even browning.
