Description
A delicious twist on the classic sandwich, perfect for parties or casual dinners. Juicy beef, melted provolone, and soft buttery rolls come together in these irresistible sliders.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (85% lean preferred)
- 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 slider buns (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls)
- 6–8 slices provolone cheese
- 4 tablespoons (56g) butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
- Optional: hot sauce, sliced jalapeños, pickled peppers, mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the pack of slider buns in half horizontally, ensuring the tops and bottoms remain intact. Place the bottom halves in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell pepper. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden, about 5–7 minutes. Add garlic, cooking for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up using a spatula and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5–8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Sprinkle the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper over the ground beef. Stir well to combine, tasting to adjust the seasoning as needed.
- Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the bottom half of the buns. Layer the provolone slices over the beef, overlapping them for full coverage.
- Place the top half of the buns over the filling. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder, then brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with foil. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 5–7 minutes, until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted.
- Let the sliders cool for 5 minutes, then cut them along the bun lines. Serve hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
Opt for ground beef with a higher fat content for more flavor and juiciness. Experiment with adding mushrooms or diced tomatoes.
