Description

An unexpectedly delightful dish that transforms the way you think about cooking cabbage, combining the tender sweetness of cabbage with butter and cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, cooking until they are soft and fragrant.
  4. Cut the cabbage into quarters and place it cut-side down in the skillet.
  5. Pour the vegetable broth around the cabbage.
  6. Season with salt and pepper, then cover the skillet with a lid or foil.
  7. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and return to the oven uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

For enhanced caramelization, cook the onions and garlic a little longer until golden. Top with breadcrumbs for crunch or experiment with herbs like thyme or rosemary.
