Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (beef or turkey)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground meat and onion. Cook, breaking the meat apart, until browned and the onion becomes translucent.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes (with their juice), kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper into the pot. Stir until well combined.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. Once ready, serve the dish hot, topped with shredded cheese if desired.

Notes

Consider adding lime juice or cilantro before serving for extra flavor. This dish freezes well, making it great for meal prep.
