Crispy, golden chicken wings coated in a sticky honey garlic glaze, served over buttery rice – a perfect dish for gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs chicken wings, split and tips removed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil and placing a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until they are evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared rack. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until the wings turn golden and crispy.
  4. While the wings are baking, prepare the rice. In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth, butter, and salt to a boil. Once boiling, stir in rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 18 minutes. Afterward, remove from heat but keep it covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Add finely minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add honey, soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and chili flakes. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue cooking while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, which should take about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  7. Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the wings, tossing them until they are evenly coated.
  8. Serve the warm glazed wings over the buttery rice and garnish with chopped parsley for a touch of vibrant color.

Notes

For best results, dry the wings thoroughly before seasoning. A wire rack elevates the wings, allowing hot air to circulate for even cooking.
