Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs chicken wings, split and tips removed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil and placing a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until they are evenly coated.
- Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared rack. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until the wings turn golden and crispy.
- While the wings are baking, prepare the rice. In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth, butter, and salt to a boil. Once boiling, stir in rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 18 minutes. Afterward, remove from heat but keep it covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork.
- In a small saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Add finely minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add honey, soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and chili flakes. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue cooking while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, which should take about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the wings, tossing them until they are evenly coated.
- Serve the warm glazed wings over the buttery rice and garnish with chopped parsley for a touch of vibrant color.
Notes
For best results, dry the wings thoroughly before seasoning. A wire rack elevates the wings, allowing hot air to circulate for even cooking.
