Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Incorporate the molasses, egg, and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually stir in the flour mixture until a dough forms.
- Chill the dough in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll the chilled dough into small balls and coat in powdered sugar.
- Arrange on lined baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow cooling on sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
For an extra kick, try adding nutmeg or allspice. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
