Description

A comforting, cheesy twist on traditional tacos, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or lean ground meat
  • 1 packet taco seasoning or 2–3 tablespoons homemade taco spice mix
  • 1 to 1¼ cups salsa or tomato-based sauce
  • 1 8-ounce refrigerated crescent-roll dough package
  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend, or your choice)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped lettuce, diced tomato, chopped green onion, olives, salsa, or hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Unroll the crescent-roll dough and press it evenly into the baking dish, sealing seams to form a crust.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, then drain excess fat.
  4. Add taco seasoning and salsa to the meat, stir well, and simmer until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the crescent-roll crust in the baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the seasoned meat layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, until the crust is golden and cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5–10 minutes, then cut into slices.
  9. Serve warm with optional toppings like sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, olives, or extra salsa.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding beans or corn to the meat mixture. Experiment with different cheese varieties like pepper jack.
