Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped cherries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries gently.
  6. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are nicely golden.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
