Description

A delightful quick bread loaded with melted cheddar and a soft, tender crumb, perfect for cozy dinners or festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and optional garlic powder in a large bowl.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until well coated in the flour mixture.
  4. Whisk together the milk, beaten egg, and melted butter in a separate bowl. Add honey if using.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Fold gently until just combined.
  6. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle reserved cheese on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
