Description

A comforting casserole that combines the fluffiness of biscuits with savory eggs and cheese, perfect for brunch or family breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 8 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated (8 oz)
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (about ½ cup)
  • ¼ cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Open the package of refrigerated biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into 6-8 small pieces.
  3. Spread half of the biscuit pieces evenly in the bottom of your greased dish. Sprinkle half of the crumbled bacon and 1 cup of the grated cheddar cheese on top.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, minced garlic, half of the green onions, Old Bay seasoning, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.
  5. Top the first layer of biscuits with the remaining biscuit pieces. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the entire layer, ensuring every biscuit piece is soaked. Finish by sprinkling the remaining cheese and bacon on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top layers of biscuit are golden brown.
  7. Combine melted butter with garlic powder and chopped parsley. In the last 5 minutes of baking, gently brush this mixture over the top.
  8. Allow the casserole to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with remaining green onions.

Notes

For best results, use freshly grated cheese instead of pre-shredded versions. Customize by adding sautéed bell peppers, spinach, or different cheeses.
