- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ¼ cup water
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions
- Prepare the chicken by slicing into thin strips and tossing with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
- Sear the chicken in hot oil until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Cook the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms in the remaining oil for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Build the sauce by adding minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and water; simmer for a minute.
- Combine the cooked chicken with the sauce and mix thoroughly, heating through for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve the dish garnished with green onions and alongside steamed rice or noodles.
